The Purpose of SSPG will be to promote for the benefit of the public of South Swindon the conservation protection and improvement of the local physical and natural environment, including in particular but not exclusively the area of non-coalescence between Swindon and its surrounding villages, the North Wessex Downs AONB, the Wanborough Conservation areas.

This shall be achieved in particular but not exclusively by raising awareness of threats of harm to the area and by encouraging the local community to take lawful action to preserve and protect its rural character and lifestyle.

The Group was formed in December 2018 following the application by Turley and Wasdell propoerties to create a large industrial park at Inlands Farm, a location that abuts the Wessex Downs AONB and sits in the centre of the non coalecence zone between the Ridgeway villages and Swindon.
