Over 100 residents filled Wanborough Village Hall on Monday evening 20th April to hear the South Swindon Protection Group bring locals up to speed on the latest development proposal for Inlands Farm, submitted too Swindon BC in February 2026 by the Hussey Family Trust and its agent Turley’s.
We have outlined some key points attached to help you create your own objections letter on the things that are important to you, using your own words - please do not cut and paste. It's important to recognise that this proposal sits outside the settlement boundary of Wanborough and is in conflict with the Local Plan and Strategy, and is NOT an area allocated for development and a further 275 home creep along the A419 is not a necessary, or indeed permitted, addition to the New Eastern Village (NEV) 9000+ homes selected for housing growth in Eastern Swindon.
The South Swindon Protection Group (SSPG) submits this formal representation in respect of Planning Application S/26/0173 relating to the proposed residential development of approximately 275 dwellings at Inlands Farm, The Marsh, Wanborough. Having reviewed the application documentation and supporting technical reports, SSPG considers that the proposal is fundamentally inconsistent with the adopted Swindon Local Plan and with national planning policy set out in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).For the reasons set out in this representation, the proposed development would result in unacceptable harm to the countryside separating Wanborough and Swindon, conflict with policies protecting the Area of Non-Coalescence, and introduce unsustainable development outside the planned growth framework for eastern Swindon.
A major housing proposal at Inlands Farm threatens protected rural land, increases traffic through Wanborough and adds pressure beyond the Local Plan. Residents are urged to review the plans, understand the impacts and be ready to ensure local voices are heard.
SSPG are delighted with the decision received today from the Planning Inspectorate - that the Appeal mounted against Swindon Borough Council’s refusal to grant planning permission for a warehousing and science park at Inlands Farm, Wanborough, has been dismissed.
